Pansies should not create difficulties for anyone: planting and caring for them is extremely simple. It is with their planting that experts advise beginners to start in order to accumulate knowledge and gain experience for further experiments.

After a long, cloudy winter, pansies are among the first to appear on flower beds. Flowers, similar to bright butterflies, make you smile and remember - spring is ahead, and then a long summer.

A little about viols and how to grow them

Pansies (viols) can reproduce themselves. When they fade, they form capsules, after which the ground is covered with the smallest seeds. Why do experienced gardeners try to remove the bolls before the seeds ripen? Only annuals or biennials are able to maintain a compact shape, and the blossoming flowers will be large and bright.

Determining the right time to collect the bolls is not difficult. As soon as they turn slightly yellowish, they become covered with cracks - it's time to start collecting seeds.

These unpretentious flowers feel great in mid-latitudes, where there is no scorching sun. An open area with a predominance of scattered light is suitable for them; direct sunlight on the ground is allowed only for a couple of hours.

There are two ways to plant plants.

1. To obtain annual copies at home, seeds are planted in early February for seedlings. After the seedlings get stronger, they are sent to the flower beds in early May.
2. In order for the flowers to sprout themselves in the spring, the seeds are sown in open ground in the summer. Plants are not allowed to bloom, regularly pinching the buds and giving them strength for wintering.

Finding the right soil for pansies is not difficult. The acidity indicator of the environment does not play a big role, it can fluctuate within reasonable limits. The main thing is that the soil is well drained for planting seeds. The increased density of the earth is corrected by introducing a quarter of the sand from the total volume.

Waiting for new shoots

For winter germination of seeds, prepare clean and disinfected containers with a large number of drainage holes. You can prepare the soil yourself or buy it at the store. And it is best to combine the soil from the following components:

• two parts of purchased universal soil;
• one piece of leafy land;
• one part of river sand.

First, shallow furrows are made in the soil at a distance of 5 cm. For the seeds of pansies, rather rare sowing is required, it is enough to plant after 1 cm. After sprinkling the grooves with earth, moisten with a spray bottle. The next step is to cover the containers with glass and put them in a dark place at a temperature of 18-20 ° C.

Advice

Do not use boxes that were collected more than three years ago for planting at home. Germination decreases every year, the quality of seedlings suffers.

After the sprouts appear, the glass is removed, and the containers are placed in a bright place with a decrease in temperature to 10-12 ° C. If necessary, produce illumination with lamps, this will avoid pulling out the seedlings. At this stage, the seedlings are fed with a complex fertilizer in a half dose.

Advice

To prevent freezing, flowers need to be tempered. Since the end of March, containers are taken out into the open air, constantly increasing the residence time.

After a couple of weeks, pansies should be dived. Cultivation of annuals and biennials in flower beds is the same, the only difference is in time.Flowers should be at a distance of 25-30 cm from each other. Compact young bushes tend to grow strongly. You need to plant plants at the same depth that was in the pots for picking.

A Few Care Tips

Growing pansies from seeds does not require a lot of time. If the soil is selected correctly, there will be no problems with watering. Flowers do not like the high humidity of an earthen coma and can rot. It is best to water in the evening when the sun goes down, or early in the morning so that the soil does not crack.

In the heat, water procedures are carried out daily, usually 3-4 times a week are enough. It is advisable not to allow water droplets to get on the buds and flowers, since there is a high probability of the formation of brown spots on them.

How much fertilizer do pansies need? Planting plants in open ground, which is oversaturated with fresh organic matter, will lead to the inevitable death of flowers.

Organic matter can only be used well-rotted. And it is best to choose complex fertilizers, where there is an optimally selected combination of mineral and organic substances.

For abundant flowering, one application of fertilizers to the soil at the root per month is enough. When grown from seeds, seedlings are fed weekly, gradually increasing the dose. It is obligatory to apply dressings before laying the buds. What else to look for?

On illness. Do not plant pansies close to each other. Such conditions are favorable for the formation of putrefactive processes. Powdery mildew is especially dangerous - flowers lose their turgor, become covered with spots. The black leg will not keep you waiting if the soil is excessively moist.

Advice

In case of severe damage, the plants must be burned. The surviving specimens should be sprayed with a fungicide, not forgetting about the soil. Processing is carried out several times at weekly intervals.

Pests also do not bypass flower beds. The most dangerous of them are aphids and scoops.

For prevention, insecticidal preparations are used. If the attack has already occurred, the damaged specimens are destroyed in order to prevent the spread of pests to neighboring plantings. Regular inspection of flowers is a good preventive procedure.
