Glyphosate is a potent herbicide, one of the top most popular in the world agricultural sector. It does not possess selectivity, that is, it oppresses any plants it hits.

Gardeners note the convenience of using the liquid concentrate "Tornado", the economy and safety for useful crops (with proper protection).

"Tornado" is sold in different dosages: 5, 50, 100 and 1000 ml, as well as in cans of 5-10 liters. A variation of the drug "Tornado Extra" contains the same active substance glyphosate, but in a higher concentration - 500 g per liter.

Once in the soil, "Tornado" decomposes in 2–3 weeks, without affecting beneficial plants and weed seeds. Therefore, the processing of especially harmful annuals should be carried out before the seeds appear on them, otherwise after a while you will have to start all over again. With correct and timely spraying of the site, one treatment per season will be enough.

Tornado herbicide

Instructions for use

The herbicide "Tornado" is diluted in water and sprayed over the leaf on unnecessary plants. Watering is useless: the plant roots do not absorb the herbicide. You can not use the concentrate in its pure form, as well as violate the dosages suggested by the manufacturer.

The processing time depends on the growing season of the plants. The remedy is effective from early spring to late autumn.

How to properly breed "Tornado" for the treatment of various weeds:

  1. Poisons are prepared exactly as much as necessary for processing. Storage of the solution is not recommended: it quickly loses its effectiveness.
  2. It is forbidden to use the container from under the solution in the future for cooking.
  3. The water for the solution is preliminarily purified from clay and silt, and also softened. To lower the hardness of the water, add a pinch of ammonium sulfate, 1 tsp. plain or soda ash for 5 liters of water or sodium triphosphate ("Calgon").
  4. The use of rainwater is acceptable.
  5. It is recommended to first dilute the concentrate with 5 l of water, then stir and add the remaining water.

Concentrations for killing various weeds specified by the manufacturer:

PlantSolution concentrationConsumptionNumber of treatments
Annual weeds.15–20 ml per 3 liters of water.3 liters of ready-made solution per 100 m 2.1
Burians along paths and fences, road seams.25-30 ml per 3 liters of water.3 liters of ready-made solution per 100 m 2.1
Perennials.40-50 ml for 3 liters of water.3 liters of ready-made solution per 100 m 2.1
Shrubs, trees; cleaning up abandoned areas.40–75 ml for 3 liters of water.3 liters of ready-made solution per 100 m 2.1

If processed away from cultivated plants, the dosage can be increased by 2–5 ml. This increases the likelihood of complete destruction of especially tenacious weeds: sow thistle, cow parsnip, duckweed, bindweed, etc.

Instructions for using the herbicide "Tornado":

  • The optimal processing time is early spring (1-2 weeks before sowing) or autumn (after harvest). So useful landings will not suffer.
  • Works are carried out in dry and calm weather. The optimal time of day is before 10 am (after the dew has dried) and after 5 pm.
  • The air temperature at which the herbicide is effective is from 5 to 25 degrees Celsius.
  • Spraying is carried out from a special garden spray bottle on a leaf of a vegetative weed.
  • Vegetating weeds are best destroyed before flowering from 5 cm in height.
  • In the case of minimal weed infestation, give preference to manual processing. The herbicide is appropriate for large-scale work. If weeds do not want to leave the garden in any way, treat them pointwise with a syringe or brush them with a brush.
  • Rotten weed residues are simply removed from the site.

Security measures

Like other moderately toxic pesticides, Tornado requires personal protective measures. From opening the bottle and stirring the solution, the body should be protected by a mask, goggles and a spunbond suit or long-sleeved clothing. Do not allow inhalation of vapors of the drug, its contact with the skin and mucous membranes, and even more so inside. Signs of gastrointestinal poisoning - nausea, vomiting, spasms. General weakness, headache, itching are possible.

If you suspect Tornado poisoning, you need to take urgent measures:

  1. Eyes in an open state are washed with clean water for at least half an hour.
  2. The skin must be thoroughly washed with laundry soap.
  3. If the herbicide is swallowed, an ambulance should be called urgently. Drink plenty of water and activated charcoal while waiting for the doctor, induce vomiting.

Even if there are no signs of intoxication, it is recommended to take a shower after gardening.

Do not smoke, eat or drink while spraying weeds! With the air, particles of the agent can get on the mucous membranes of the mouth.

Clothes and footwear in which they worked in the garden, like equipment, must be thoroughly cleaned. Unused solution should be poured into the ground away from water bodies. The container and container from the solution are disposed of by incineration. If the container needs to be left, then it is thoroughly washed from the pesticide residues, otherwise it will get on the cultivated plants during the next treatment, and the result will be disastrous.

Crop crops must be protected with a covering agromaterial. Better to take waterproof film or spandbond. When processing the near-trunk circle, the trunks of tall trees are wrapped from the soil level by 40-50 cm. If it is not possible to cover the plants, try to fence them off with cardboard while spraying. Lawn grasses also need to be protected to avoid bald spots.

Do not allow the continuous action of the pesticide to hit the plantings, otherwise they will die like ordinary weeds. If the trouble does happen, urgently water the plants with a garden hose.

Please note: the proximity of apiaries and water protection areas is a serious obstacle to the use of pesticides. The preparation is extremely toxic for fish. It is necessary to warn the beekeepers in advance about the upcoming work. Bees at the time of spraying and within 4–5 hours should not fly closer to the garden than 2-3 km.

Tornado storage recommendations are standard:

  • away from medicines, food, feed;
  • out of the reach of children and pets;
  • in the range from +15 to +40 degrees;
  • up to 5 years in sealed original packaging.

What could go wrong?

Typical mistakes gardeners make when working with the Tornado herbicide:

  • Wrong dosage. In low concentration, the herbicide is useless. The maximum allowable dose of the concentrate is 75 ml per 3 liters of water.
  • Unsuitable weather conditions when spraying the area. The permissible wind speed is 4–5 m / s. With an air flow, the smallest drops of the drug are easily transferred to beneficial crops.
  • Re-spraying after 2-3 days. Additional processing is not required. Please be patient: the first signs of wilting appear after 5-7 days.
  • Treating weeds in high humidity, fog, dew and rain will reduce the effectiveness of the herbicide. The rain will simply wash the product off the weed leaves, and it will not have time to work. If rainfall is predicted, spraying should be rescheduled for another day. In extreme cases, you can process the grass 2-3 hours before the rain.
  • Spraying bare soil. The weeds will sprout anyway. Wait for them to appear above the ground.
  • Mixing "Tornado" with other drugs. Most of them interfere with each other's action - the result of such processing will be disappointing. According to the experience of gardeners, only Magnum and Bi-58 are compatible with Tornado. A special additive "Mao" will help the herbicide stay on the greenery.
  • Prolonged heat above +25 ° С. Abundant wetting of the site is required for the weeds to enter the active growth phase.
  • A layer of dust on the foliage can prevent the penetration of glyphosate. In this case, the procedure is carried out after rain, which will wash away the dust.

It is impossible to imagine industrial crop cultivation without herbicides. In personal subsidiary plots, such assistants are also necessary, but without fanaticism: "Tornado" can be dangerous for humans and animals, bees, soil and water bodies if used improperly. If weeding is tired, then you can use a herbicide, but it is not always wise to shift all responsibility to it.
